My Story

Anyone who knows me, will know im a family girl! My parents raised me to appreciate the value and treasure of all things family, and i love mine dearly.❤️

Some 4 years ago my father was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis(IPF),  and given a life expectancy of 3 to 5 years. He is now 91, deteriorating but fighting and battling through every day. Always a proud, active and fit man, this disease has gradually eaten away at his lungs, to a point where he is now on oxygen every day, and struggling to move around his home, let alone go out anywhere.

Pulmonary Fibrosis Trust offers support to sufferers and family members in dark difficult times, and i want to assist them in raising awareness of the disease, for which currently there is no known cure.

As a social cyclist, i am no athlete, and even further from being a runner, but i have created a personal challenge of doing the Bath half Marathon in October, to raise funds and awareness . In April of this year i was struggling to jog even 3 miles as part of my training and yet ,i see my father gasping and fighting for breath every visit and the panic and fear he( and many others like him) have every single day, and i am humbled and saddened.

Running a half marathon ought to be easy compared to what so many with IPF endure.

I hope i can be as strong as my dear Dad ❤️
